Visited the Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology yesterday. We met Jennifer Wishart, the curator, and Telford Taylor, an Amerindian artist from St Cuthbert’s Mission, who was applying the finishing touches to his Hikarana pole, to be officially unveiled today for Carifesta. We spoke to him and I asked to take a few photos. Then, when we left, he gave Maya a carved necklace he had made. We will treasure it.

The building itself is beautiful. It houses a varied collections of artifacts as well photographic records made by Betty Meggers and her husband in the 1950’s.

The reading room has a good selection of titles, but they seem to be in the process of re-organising, so I couldn’t get a good idea yet. I’m hoping to get back there today for a better look. It’s our last full day here on this trip.
